Learn the cultural history and science behind one of the most famous trios in food history in NRFF’s upcoming publication!

“The Evolution of The Three Sisters” is a brief guide to understanding the mutual relationships between Corn, Beans, and Squash (The Three Sisters) and how they developed.

Its author, Desmen Boykin (Nanticoke), is studying Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Princeton University and is an NRFF Summer Intern. Desmen helps NRFF return culturally meaningful Lenape and Nanticoke species of The Three Sisters to their original people and lands.

This 5” x 7.5” booklet braids together Indigenous science and ecological knowledge, agricultural history, and genetics research. 

Zines are expected to ship in November.
